Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AutoEditz is a screen-recording and editing service with local apps and optional cloud features. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the AutoEditz macOS app, iOS companion app, share pages, and autoeditz.com.

Our Terms of Service explain the rules for using AutoEditz.

2. What stays on your device

Local-only use does not require an account or an internet connection. You can record, edit, transcribe with WhisperKit, remove filler words, trim silence, apply auto-zoom, use supported local AI features, and save your files to folders on your Mac or iPhone.

While you use AutoEditz locally, we do not inspect or upload your recordings, screen contents, audio, transcripts, file names, generated SOP content, or local file URLs. A recording that you never publish or share stays on your device.

Limited anonymous product analytics described below leaves the device even during local-only use. When you sign in and choose cloud storage, cloud AI, a connected service, or multi-platform publishing, the additional information needed for that feature leaves your device as described below.

3. What we collect

We collect limited anonymous product analytics during app use, and additional information when you sign in or choose a cloud, sharing, connected-service, team, or publishing feature. Local-only use does not require an account.

Anonymous product analytics

AutoEditz uses Layers to measure whether the core workflow is functioning. We send an app-open event and events when a recording is successfully completed or an SOP is successfully generated. These events include a persistent random installation/device identifier, app and device context, and network request metadata. Layers receives the request IP address and may derive coarse country, region, or city information from it.

We do not identify the Layers installation with your AutoEditz account and do not send recording names, files, URLs, transcripts, SOP content, email addresses, or account identifiers. Automatic screen, purchase, crash, exception, and advertising tracking are disabled. AutoEditz does not request App Tracking Transparency permission for this analytics use, and Layers is instructed not to use the data for advertising.

Account information

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the account information needed to recognize you, such as your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. We do not receive your Google or Apple password. Sign-in is optional for local recording and editing.

Shared content

When you create a share link, we store the video, title, duration, and related files needed to show the share. This can include generated SOP documents, step images, captions, and narration. You may protect a share with a password. You control shared content and can delete a share from the app or web library; deletion removes its stored video and related assets from our service.

Cloud AI requests

When you ask AutoEditz for cloud-generated titles, chapters, captions, SOPs, or narration translation, we send the information needed for that request. This may include transcript text and, for SOP generation, the step frames selected for the guide. The request is processed using Google Gemini through our AI service.

AutoEditz does not use your recordings or transcripts to train its own AI models. AI output can be wrong, so review it before relying on or sharing it.

Teams and email notifications

If you use team features, we store team membership information such as user ID, role, and email address, along with SOP assignments and acknowledgments. If you enable SOP update notifications, recipient email addresses are used to send those messages. Recipients can unsubscribe from notification emails.

Share-page analytics

Share pages collect basic usage information, such as a page visit, IP address, and browser type. We use this to show owners how their shared content is being viewed, keep the service secure, and investigate abuse. We do not ask viewers for their name or email address just to view a share.

4. Google connections

AutoEditz uses YouTube API Services and Google API Services. AutoEditz asks for Google permissions only when you use the related feature:

• Sign-in — your name, email address, and account identifier so we can recognize you.
• Growth dashboard — read-only access to your Search Console, Google Analytics, YouTube channel data, and YouTube Analytics (views, watch time, and average percentage viewed) to display performance insights.
• YouTube publishing — permission to upload videos to your YouTube account on your behalf and, when you choose, to add your recording's transcript as a caption track and add the video to one of your playlists.
• Google Drive — permission to create files in your Drive that you select for upload through AutoEditz. This does not give us general access to your Drive.

We use Google data only for the feature you authorize. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI models. OAuth connection tokens are stored in your device's Keychain rather than on our servers.

You can disconnect a Google integration from within AutoEditz at any time, or revoke access from the Google security settings page (you can also use the Google Account permissions page). When you disconnect or revoke access, AutoEditz deletes the locally stored tokens immediately. Because we do not store your Google data on our servers, there is no server-side data to remove. If you revoke access through AutoEditz, any cached YouTube or Google data associated with that authorization is deleted within 7 calendar days. If you revoke access through Google's security settings page, cached data is deleted within 30 calendar days.

Deleting Google data from AutoEditz does not delete your data from YouTube or Google. To manage data stored by YouTube or Google, visit your Google Account.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. 5. Other publishing connections

AutoEditz can connect to YouTube, Google Drive, Reddit, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, Bluesky, and Discord webhooks. When you connect one of these services, the credentials needed to publish are stored locally in your device's Keychain. We do not store those publishing credentials on our servers.

Your use of a connected platform is also governed by that platform's terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect it from AutoEditz at any time.

6. Payments

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are handled through the Apple App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. We receive purchase and subscription information, such as your plan and expiration date, so we can provide the features you purchased.

7. How we use information

• Provide recording, editing, sharing, cloud storage, and AI features you request
• Manage accounts, subscriptions, credits, teams, and SOP assignments
• Show view information for your share links
• Send team or SOP update notifications you enable
• Measure whether app launch, recording completion, and SOP generation work successfully
• Keep AutoEditz secure, prevent abuse, and respond to reports
• Provide support and meet legal obligations

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or Google data for advertising.

8. Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run AutoEditz. They process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

• CloudflareCloud hosting, object storage for shared recordings and SOPs, database for metadata, content delivery, and bot-protection checks.
• Firebase (Google)Account sign-in (Google and Apple identity) and application integrity checks.
• Google — YouTube API ServicesVideo uploads to YouTube, caption tracks and playlist additions for videos you publish, and read-only access to channel data and YouTube Analytics when you connect your YouTube account.
• Google — Drive APIFile creation in your Google Drive when you choose to export a recording there.
• Google — Search Console and Analytics APIsRead-only retrieval of website and channel performance data shown in the Growth dashboard.
• Google — GeminiCloud AI processing of transcripts and frames for title, chapter, caption, SOP, and narration-translation generation.
• RevenueCat and AppleSubscription and in-app purchase management. We receive plan status and expiry; we do not receive payment-card details.
• LayersAnonymous app-open, recording-completed, and SOP-generated analytics, including an installation/device identifier, device context, request IP address, and coarse location derived from that IP. Advertising and account identification are disabled.
• Email delivery providerDelivery of team and SOP notification emails to addresses you provide.

Some providers may process information outside the Republic of Korea. We handle cross-border processing in accordance with applicable law and provide any notice, consent, or other safeguard required for a particular transfer.

9. Cookies and security checks

Password-protected share pages use a necessary session cookie named shareAccessToken. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile may use security-related storage or cookies to distinguish normal visitors from automated abuse; it is not used by us for advertising.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, short-lived upload links, device Keychain storage for OAuth credentials, and integrity checks for stored files. No online service can promise absolute security.

11. Retention and deletion

A shared video and its related SOP files remain available while the share is active. You can delete a share from the app's Storage tab or your personal library on the web. Deletion removes the stored video, SOP documents, version snapshots, and step frames associated with that share.

Google data retention

AutoEditz stores Google data only on your device and only for as long as needed to provide the feature you authorized. YouTube analytics and channel statistics retrieved with your permission may be retained while your authorization remains active, but AutoEditz verifies that authorization at least every 30 days. All other YouTube and Google data (such as channel metadata or video details) is deleted or refreshed within 30 calendar days of retrieval.

If you disconnect a Google integration in AutoEditz or delete your AutoEditz account, cached Google data is deleted within 7 calendar days. If you revoke access through Google's security settings, cached data is deleted within 30 calendar days. You can also request deletion of your stored Google data at any time by contacting help@autoeditz.com.

Layers retains SDK events, device context, installation/device identifiers, and request IP information while our Layers account remains active. You may contact us to request deletion associated with a particular installation; Layers may retain irreversibly anonymized aggregate counts after deletion.

Account, subscription, credit, team, other analytics, and abuse-report information is kept only as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Some limited records may remain when retention is required by law or needed to prevent abuse.

You can delete your account directly from the AutoEditz app (Profile → Delete Account). Account deletion permanently removes your account, all shared recordings, SOP documents, step frames, team memberships, credit balance, and associated data from our service. This action cannot be undone.

If you cannot access the app, email help@autoeditz.com to request account deletion. We will verify your identity and process the request within 30 days.

12. Your privacy rights

Under applicable privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea, you may have the right to ask us to access, correct, delete, or suspend processing of your personal information, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and receive an explanation of how your information is handled.

Send a request to help@autoeditz.com. We will handle verified requests within the time required by applicable law. You may also contact the Personal Information Protection Commission or another authority with jurisdiction over your situation.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing the service you requested), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service improvement), and consent (where you choose to connect optional services). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. You can exercise these rights through in-app account deletion or by emailing help@autoeditz.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Contact help@autoeditz.com to exercise these rights.

13. Children

AutoEditz is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 in the Republic of Korea without legally required consent. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact help@autoeditz.com.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when AutoEditz or applicable law changes. We will post the updated policy and change the effective date. If a material change affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where required.
